A new report says more than half of Americans have used the Travel channel to watch shows and movies they’ve already seen, and the number of Americans who say they watched the Travel series on the Travel network has jumped nearly 100 percent in the past year.
According to a survey conducted by the Travel Research Institute, nearly half of all U.S. adults watch Travel shows on a daily basis, and roughly 10 percent of adults say they have watched Travel shows at least once a week for the past two years.
While many Americans are still trying to get their bearings in the streaming era, there are signs that a surge in interest in the channel has caught the attention of the network’s executives.
The network’s chief operating officer, Jon Slavin, has previously said he expects the channel to see an uptick in viewership.
On Monday, Slavin told reporters that the network has seen a 50 percent increase in viewership from the beginning of last year to today, with more than 7 million total viewers in total.
The figure includes the millions of people who have seen the Travel Series and watched it on TV.
He added that the channel had seen a surge of interest from people who were not yet comfortable with streaming their favorite shows on demand.
Slavin has been a strong advocate for streaming services, saying that he expects more people to tune into the channel over the next few years.
